Geoff comes from an RAF family with both his mother and father serving overseas in World War II. This perhaps fostered his fascination with everything aeronautical, something that Geoff always ruled out pursuing on account of his severely impaired vision. Geoff instead pursued a career in journalism and spent the bulk of his working life at the BBC.

This was until she settled on working as a carer at a residential home for people who have visual impairments. In this role she climbed the ladder to the position of acting senior carer. She then left her job to care for her mother who became severely disabled.

At the age of 17 Clive’s life took a different path after suffering a spinal cord injury after a motorbike accident. Initially, Clive was paralysed below the chest but regained enough movement to walk with crutches.
