What are scholarships?

Scholarships enable anyone with any disability to learn to fly, irrespective of their background. They are one of the ways we remove the financial as well as the physical barriers to accessing aviation.

Scholarships are open to people with disabilities no matter their previous experience.

Scholarships are highly sought after and competitive. We do all we can to support as many applications as possible, however, not every submission will be successful.

Who are scholarships for?

Anyone with any disability can apply for a scholarship, whilst 30% of those that fly with Aerobility are wounded, injured or sick members of the British Armed Forces community.

Your level of experience does not matter. If you have never flown an aeroplane or thought it was impossible for you to do you can make an application.

If you have started to learn to fly and have been grounded for a while, have previously received a flying scholarship, or need just a few more hours to finish your licence or additional rating, then you can also apply for a scholarship.

Criteria:

1) You must have a disability.

2) You must be 14 or over (only if applying for a 5 hour scholarship)

3) You believe that flying would have a positive impact on your life

4) You can show a realistic plan of how to use the funding in the time allocated. For example, do you have enough free time to complete the scholarship and are you able to travel to and from the airfield.

5) You must be ‘fit-to-fly’ and be below 17 stone (108kg)

What is the application process?

Where can I use my scholarship?

All flying is delivered by Aerobility at either Blackbushe Airport in Hampshire or Tatenhill Airfield in Burton-upon-Trent.
